An open letter from Dawn Nelson... who happens to be one H-A-U-T-E mom!!!

I am writing on behalf of my son, Stevie, age 6. Stevie has always had a HUGE heart for animals and wants to help them feel loved. Stevie had two best friends, Bo & Luke, his labrador retreivers. Our family had a horrible tragedy, both our dogs went missing just two days before his 5th Birthday and we never got them back. Stevie's only birthday wish for his fifth birthday was to have his boys back. Unfortunately, we as parents were never able to grant that wish.

Last Christmas, Stevie saw a PSA for the ASPCA and knew that he HAD to help animals in need! Stevie decided that this year, instead of having a "traditional" Sixth birthday party, he would dedicate his birthday to helping animals in need, so he asked that party goers not bring gifts for him, but bring gifts for shelter animals in need.

So started Stevie Nelson's 6th Birthday Wish. To date, Stevie has raised over $28,000 and $6,000 in products for his birthday fundraiser for our local shelter. He has also been named this years ASPCA "Kid of the Year" for his efforts of advocating for animals in need.

Stevie is continuing to act as an animal advocate and is currently fundraising with the ASPCA Dog of the Year, you may have heard of her, Surf Dog Ricochet. Ricochet and Stevie are teaming up this HOWLiday season for a fundraiser to help MORE animals in need with "Stevie's Kritter Toy Drive".
