This adorable dog who survived the gas chamber in Alabama is now in New Jersey, and looking for a forever home!!!

Yes, this is a sad-happy story. And it contains something we don’t want to think about – the fate of animals who aren’t claimed or found a home in kill shelters.



The problem is the no-kill shelters have limited funds which means limited space, and while they take as many cats and dogs as they can, there are still many, many more who have nowhere else to go but to the shelters that put the animals down (or kill them). If people stop buying pets from pet shops, and people stop dumping the pets when they’re no longer a cute baby, and if everyone got their pet fixed, and adopted instead of buying from breeders, then this problem of having unwanted animals would no longer exist.

Little Daniel the beagle was in a shelter in Alabama when his time ran out. He and 4 other puppies were put into the gas chamber, only somehow, he survived. When they opened the door, the other dogs were dead, but Daniel was alive and wagging his tail.

The staff named him ‘Daniel’ and called him a miracle dog. The no-kill shelter, The Eleventh Hour, in New Jersey heard about Daniel and were so moved they took him in.
